How I Approach My Work
The Strategy → Execution Cycle
DISCOVER → SYNTHESIZE → BUILD → EXECUTE → MEASURE → EVOLVE ↻
01 DISCOVER
Understand before solving.
Get close to the business, customer, challenge, and context. Ask the questions that uncover what’s actually happening, not just what we assume is happening.
Research · Stakeholder interviews · Customer insights · Data · Competitive landscape · Audits · Business goals · Constraints
02 SYNTHESIZE
Turn complexity into clarity.
Connect the dots. Find the patterns, tensions, opportunities, and insights that matter. Define the real problem and create a clear point of view about where to go next.
Insights · Opportunity identification · Prioritization · Positioning · Strategic direction · Success criteria
03 BUILD
Turn strategy into something actionable.
Create the roadmap between the idea and reality. Define what needs to happen, who needs to be involved, what gets prioritized, and how the pieces work together.
Roadmaps · Briefs · GTM plans · Experience design · Campaign planning · Backlogs · Workstreams · KPIs
04 EXECUTE
Make the strategy real.
Bring the right people together and move the work forward. Lead across teams, solve problems as they emerge, make decisions, and protect the strategic intent through execution.
Cross-functional leadership · Creative development · Production · Launch · Activation · Program management · Optimization
05 MEASURE
Understand what changed.
Look beyond whether something shipped. Did it work? What did customers do? What moved for the business? What surprised us?
Performance · KPIs · Customer response · Qualitative + quantitative feedback · Business impact · Learnings
06 EVOLVE
Take what we learned and make the next move smarter.
Feed the learning back into the strategy. Double down on what worked, change what didn’t, uncover the next question, and begin again.

What Guides me
Embrace
the shake.
Phil Hansen’s Embrace the Shake has stayed with me because it challenges the idea that we need perfect conditions to do great work.
In the talk, Hansen shares how a physical limitation forced him to rethink the way he created art. Instead of continuing to fight against what he could no longer control, he began working with it and discovered entirely new possibilities in the process. His limitation didn’t become the end of his creativity; it became a catalyst for it.
I see a direct parallel in my own work.
There is almost always a constraint. The budget is smaller than we’d like. The timeline is tighter than it should be. The technology has limitations. The scope has boundaries. The team doesn’t have every resource. The original idea simply isn’t possible in the way we imagined it.
I’ve learned not to see those realities as reasons the work has to be less ambitious.
Instead, I ask: What is possible from here?
Sometimes the box forces you to think differently inside it. Sometimes you find a way around it. And sometimes the constraint itself leads you somewhere more interesting than you would have gone with unlimited time, money, or resources.
It reminds me that creativity isn’t about waiting for ideal circumstances. It’s about being curious enough, resourceful enough, and brave enough to make something meaningful with what you have.
Constraints don’t have to define the limits of the work. Sometimes they’re exactly what helps us see beyond them
